Kris Davidson | Two Americas

Photographer Kris Davidson's current project is titled Two Americas— working with writer / Latin American scholar Brian Owensby, Two Americas is a documentary project that looks at the cultural overlap of North America and Latin America. Rather than focusing superficially on the high-profile aspects of the current controversies surrounding illegal immigration and the pending new and improved border fence, Two Americas will look at deeply-rooted historical events and tracing them to their modern-day manifestations. At the heart of this documentary is the emotional question of what it means to be an American in Our America, as Latin Americans seek work and hope in the U.S., but also as U.S. retirees move to Latin America seeking peace and affordability in their twilight years. Kris Davidson's opening at Riki on April 25th will include a selection from Two Americas.

Art Opening | Sacred Spaces

Kris Davidson will be showing selections from two different bodies of work at Riki, with April 25th as the opening reception. Sacred Spaces, a collection of mixed media photo/collage-paintings, is an exploration of the muted deeply personal and unexpected divinity in everyday places and memories. Working with a photojournalistic approach, a scene is photographed in sections and the individual images are then pieced together on canvas with paint to become something that alternates between reality and fiction, like a distant memory. Each individual photograph tells a story, but when pieced together with the other photographs, a greater sense of the physical and temporal space emerges.

Opening reception the 25th of April from 6-9 in 4037 24th street San Francisco.

Summer Dress

Fresh from Spain, our summer dress from Sita Murt. Luxuriously soft cotton knit combined with a shirred cotton overlay, beautifully done! It looks fresh and crisp when worn with our white soft cotton cardigan by NEEN of France. To make it pop, just add a little red shoe ( check our last blog entry) and you will be ready for work, lunch and dinner.

If you happen to travel to Spain this summer go check out the new Sita Murt store in Barcelona!
